add-on: outer planes

This is multiple add-ons for the Dungeon Craft monster database. Now you can add cretures from the Outer PLanes to your design. Have your players face down a demon, be ambushed by devils or receive aid from a heavenly consort of devas.

How to use:

These are add-on for the monsters database, but may also require several other databases to be modified. You can add these creatures to the default databases or to your altered databases in just a couple of easy steps.

Adding to the default databases (which can be already added to):

  1. In the DC database editor, export your current monsters database. If you already have a monsters.txt file, you should consider naming it something else like 'monsters2.txt' or whatever you would like.
  2. Open your newly exported monster database and the Outer Planes add-on monster database of your choice (_op_monster_xyz.txt where xyz is the name of one of the creature types) in your favorite text editor.
  3. Copy the Outer Planes add-on (the whole thing or just the critters you want) and paste it on the bottom of your monsters database. Save your work.
  4. Import the newly updated monster database back into your design. Save your work.
  5. Repeat steps #1 through #4 for the items, races, specail abilities and spells databases (using op_items_xyz.txt, op_races_xyz.txt, op_specialAbilities_xyz.txt and op_spells_xyz.txt, respectively.)
  6. Unzip the icons file into your Resources directory.

Adding to your own databases:

  1. Complete all of the above steps.
  2. Repeat steps #1 through #4 from the above isntructions for the monsters database, adding op_monsters_Default_xyz.txt to it exists (for example the modrons).
  3. Repeat steps #1 through #4 from the above isntructions for the special abilities database, adding op_specialAbilities_Default_xyz.txt to it (if there is one).
  4. Unzip the default icons file into your Resources directory.

You can now add Outer Planes denizens to your combats. Easy, right? Check back here for updates, or make your own icons (Google images and Wikipedia are a great place to start).
