There are three different modes of play in Dungeon Craft which allow player controlled movement: 3D mode, overland mode and combat mode.
In 3D mode, movement can be achieved either via the keyboard or the mouse.

The mouse may be used by placing the cursor in an area of the viewport and clicking the left mouse button. The cursor will reflect the action of clicking. See the image below for the different areas of the viewport.

In overland modeand in combat mode, movement is the same, but different from 3D mode.
All movement is relative to the current position.
The mouse may be used for movement by placing it relative the party icon/character icon you wish to move and pressing the left mouse button. The cursor is context sensitive and will show you the direction in which you will move.
